Mr. Arul Kumar C is a Ceramic Engineer, specialised in refractory and its applications for Hydrocarbon process Industries, Aluminium, Cement, Power and Iron & Steel since 1993.

Aluminium: Executed many relining projects for Casthouse melting/holding furnaces, ABF Top blocks and monolithics for Potcells. Major clients: Dubal & EMAL (EGA), ALBA, Garmco, Qatalum, Sohar Aluminium, Gulf Extrusions, Sohar Aluminium and Qatalum.

Hydrocarbon Process Industries (HPI): Lining of SRU equipment MCC, WHB, Thermal Oxidiser, Reactors, Sulphur Pits, etc.), Fired Heaters, Reformers and Burnpits for ADNOC group of companies (Takreer, Gasco, ADGAS, etc.). Dr. Dhavanesan Ramachandran graduated from Indian institute of ceramics, Indian Institute of Technology, BHU for Bachelor and Master degree respectively. During his PhD studies at the University of Denmark, he had an opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects in the area of functional ceramic membrane materials for energy applications with the aim of using such membranes into oxy-fuel plants in order to facilitate carbon capture and storage (CCS) activities.

He has cross-cultural experienced, highly motivated professional, having 13+ years of research and industrial experiences in various materials manufacturing and research organisations such as construction materials, ceramics reinforced paints, super abrasives, inorganic porous materials, inorganic membranes and carbon reinforced ceramic matrix composites. These research and industrial opportunities have not only offered him a lot of scopes to experience with various advanced ceramic materials research and developmental activities but also offered to develop a strong network of scientific communities.

Recently he has been working as a Research fellow at the University of Birmingham in XMat UK program (Materials Systems for Extreme Environments) particularly in developing carbon reinforced ceramic matrix composites for aerospace applications under Prof. Jon Binner. His job responsibilities were to design and development carbon reinforced ceramic matrix composites to enhance thermo-mechanical properties of these materials for high temperature applications.

As stated earlier, apart from the experience of academia, he has served a number of years in advanced materials manufacturing and research organizations in various capacities, where he got exposed to the various industrial manufacturing process and products, new product developments, quality systems that offered a valuable experience to an in-depth understanding of product implementation cycle from lab scale to industry scale. Other than research activities, he has involved a number of administrative activities that includes such as Lab coordinator, Member of summer school organizing team, Conference session chair, Lab tour-organizer, ISO Quality auditor and Coordinator-SGA (Small group activity) and etc. He has also attended a number international conferences where he got a chance to interact eminent materials scientists and industrial experts.
